Emergency Repair Program

The Emergency Repair Rehab Program offers one home rehabilitation project for qualifying homeowners located in the County of Monroe. Rehabilitation projects can include, but are not limited to: roofing repair/replacement, furnace repair/replacement, duct work repair/replacement, and well repair/replacement.

FSS is a five-year program to help clients become self-sufficient. The goal is to get the client off assistance and have the ability to save money for a home. A client must be on a housing voucher to qualify for this program.

The FIX Program is available through a partnership with the City of Monroe through a Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development to improve housing & living conditions, foster and maintain affordable safe housing, increase home energy efficiency, discourage relocation of residents, promote continued homeownership and provide an opportunity for those unable to afford repairs to fix their homes.

Eligible projects include:

  • Electrical repairs
  • Plumbing repairs
  • Roofs (structurally unsafe, exposed or leak)
  • Windows (broken, cracked missing glass, rotting around the frame)
  • Porches and steps
  • Heating systems and furnaces
  • Lead-based paint remediation
  • Structural issues which pose a threat to the health & safety of the resident
  • Removal of architectural barriers for disabled persons

MCOP receives funds to assist Monroe County residents age 55 and older with Minor Home Repairs such as roof and floor repairs, minor furnace repairs, doors and more.

When funding is available, MCOP offers assistance with electric, natural gas and deliverable fuels such as propane in Monroe, Jackson, Lenawee, Hillsdale and Washtenaw counties. To be eligible for assistance the household must be categorically eligible (recipient of  SNAP, FAP, TANF, FIP ,WIC, SSI, SDA, Head Start or Home Heating Credit within the program timeframe), or income must be verified as at or below 60% of the state median income based on household size and income. For deliverable fuels, a households tank must be at or below 30%.
